Specialty Estate Coffee of the Month - Nicaraguan Santa Rosa
This month’s Specialty Estate Coffee hails from a lesser known, and highly underrated area; Nicaragua. The Santa Rosa plantation is located in the north, near the town Matagalpa, approx 1100 metres above sea level.
Traveling around the coffee areas of Nicaragua is so much more rewarding than being in the major cities close by. You can always absorb so much more about the coffee and it’s origins...
All coffees plants are ‘shade grown’; a canopy of trees allows for a slower growing cycle and time for the sugars in the coffee beans to mature. These trees also provide a natural habitat for migratory and other birds, thereby working hand-in-hand with the environment, also allowing for a secondary income from the fruits they produce; eg. banana, citrus.
These bluey/green beans are roasted to a light-medium profile, to release enough coffee sugars to create heaven on the tongue. The sparkling acidity and intense fruity flavours are finished with perky citrus notes making it a perfect kick-start to your morning and a celebration of all things good throughout your day.
Suiting the palates of folks who enjoy a smooth plunger/filter coffee and then stepping up for those who require a richer, fruitier espresso. In our mind this coffee will be drunk by many, and enjoyed by all so get in now to order!!
ENJOY!
