Papua New Guinea (Yauke)

Here we are back again to Papua New Guinea, a country which has perfect conditions to grow what is often described as the finest coffee in the world. So guess what? We bring to you the ‘Perfect Cup’ of coffee.

This Specialty Estate coffee is grown at around 5500 feet above sea level in the Yha Hauka (pronounced Yow Hocca) Estate region. It’s only reachable by 4WD or by small plane from Lae. As coffee is the only form of revenue for the locals, all villages in the area have been using sustainable farming methods through-out the plantation now for more than 25 years. This is to ensure they produce the highest quality of coffee possible. The coffee is organically grown and farmers ensure traditional farming methods are still used along with the best quality fertilizers they can buy.

You’ll find shade trees are an essential element to organic farming in PNG. They are often used as a secondary crop for the farmer. They also grow vegetables as ground cover to stop weeds, which also supplies them with food and to act as a natural fertilizer.

Now down to business, The Roasting!! We take the coffee into a light/medium style roast, this brings out the sweet, caramelly flavours and also helps remove any sharpness at the front of the palette.

Now down to the bullshitness, The Cupping!! Great prepared as a double-shot flat white or long black. Signs of Cacao and an interesting finish of coriander believe it or not…? How good is that?!! Place your order before it’s all gone – this one will sell fast!

ENJOY!
