A true origin coffee, Tega & Tula is grown in the famous Kaffa region of Ethiopia. Kaffa is acknowledged as the place where coffee was first discovered in the 9th century – in fact it is where the name ‘coffee’ is derived. The two farms (Tega & Tula) are sited high in natural forest between 1700 and 2000 metres above sea level. This high-altitude coffee is naturally sweet bringing distinctive blueberry and rockmelon flavours to the blend.
By comparison, coffee production in Kenya’s Gichugu region dates back to only 1893. Kainamui coffee thrives high on the rich volcanic slopes of Mount Kenya, growing in many tiny farms at around 1750 metres above sea level. Each farm consists of around 200 trees and of the 1800 farms in this area, uniquely, 600 are owned by women. Kainamui coffee is a washed process coffee that brings a bright lemon acidity and additional sweetness to the blend.
